Chapter 5

My eyelids feel heavy and they want to stay firmly shut. I have a dull ache forming in the back of my head but I don’t want to move to take some pain relief. I’m lying in bed with Ric’s arm holding me close to him. He’s still asleep and I don’t want to wake him. It’s New Year ’s Day and I am going to start as I mean to go on. I’m not going to draw comparisons to last year and I am not going to obsess over things I cannot alter or change. I very carefully turn over so I am lying on my back. Ric’s arm has not strayed away from me and I look over to his handsome face. I really didn’t think we would get here but I am so glad we did. Ric makes me feel content and happy. What more could I possibly ask for? I study him as he sleeps. He always looks so calm and carefree but there’s an innocent quality to him as he lies there. Without thinking my hand reaches out to touch the muscular arm which is resting over me. I move in closer and lightly brush my lips over his. They barely touch his lips but as I pull away he holds me in place.

As his eyes open and consciousness hits him he leans up to give me kiss which leaves me wanting. His tongue strokes mine and his hand reaches up to my head as he takes the kiss deeper. Within seconds he has me rolled over onto my back but doesn’t break our connection. I kiss him back greedily with my headache firmly out of mind. His lips languidly move to my neck and I enjoy the sensation for a minute before I alter our angle and I have him beneath me. The move startles Ric but he lies back with a smile playing on his lips. My hands explore his athletic body but it’s not enough. I lean over and kiss ever inch of him until I am between his legs. I take him into my mouth and look up to find him staring intently at me with a look of pure desire. I pull him deeper into my mouth and when a curse escapes him it spurs me on. I set a rhythm and I lick and suck back and forth as I feel him throbbing in my mouth. Ric’s hips tilt automatically, urging me on but I need no encouragement.

‘Wait...’ Ric grits out but I am too lost in the task at hand to pay any attention. ‘...Scarlett I have to be inside you,’ he manages to utter but his body is saying otherwise. ‘Scarlett,’ he trails off again as I take him deeper and then finally pull out.

I grab and unwrap a condom and place it on his impressive length before I straddle him and slowly lower myself onto him. I close my eyes briefly as I savour the feeling.
